What's Happening in Your Society?
Mt. Clavary, Bayard

Zion, Chappell
Zion Women’s Society of Chappell has strived to keep somewhat active this year despite the pandemic and decline in membership. We met in January to work on quilts for Lutheran World Relief in the morning and our annual meeting with a Bible study in the afternoon.
Then due to COVID, we did not get together during February, March, and April for quilting. In June, we made 16 baby layettes for the ingathering at our Spring workshop which was to be held at Zion, but had to be cancelled due to COVID. In July we made quilts in the morning and had our quarterly meeting with Bible study in the afternoon. In August we got together again and made quilts and will be meeting in September to finish up for the year and then pack them for shipping in October. We hope to have 25 quilts completed for this year thanks to a couple of ladies from Lodgepole that have offered their services each time to help us get them completed.
We continue to collect mites every month, and recently have put out the mite box in our church so that congregational members may also contribute to help with our mission projects whenever they wish.
Helping pack clothes for Orphan Grain Train at least once a month is a project that a couple members enjoy doing. We also give of our treasures to different charities every December along with enjoying a Christmas luncheon at a local café with ladies of the congregation and guests. Funeral dinners for the family were also served this past year.
We are saddened to report that our society lost a long time member, Lillace Brott, to cancer in September. Our membership keeps declining as we know is happening in many societies, but by the Grace of God the few active members we have will keep pressing onward as long as God wills.

President’s Report 2020
This has been a very unusual year for all of us. Faith has 16 dedicated members of LWML that show the flexibility of women to meet the needs of others. Thank you Lauralee for your year of service. As I now take over as president in September I am once again so grateful to our members and the congregation for all the work they support over the year.
Last October our clothing drive was a great success. We sorted and sent 2 large car loads of clothing to the Indian Mission. Pastor Neugebauer transported one and Pastor Bourrett graciously took the second one on his way to Casper for a meeting.
November we hosted the annual soup and pie dinner for the congregation. It had a great turnout and is one of the favorite events of the year.
December we packed 23 Christmas stockings with fruit and goodies for our shut-ins and they were delivered by LWML and choir members while Christmas caroling. We had several children with us which makes it even more enjoyable. LWML had made chili for the church decorating and due to the snowstorm cancelling church it became the first Advent meal.
In February we had our annual Prayer Service with several members of St. John’s Scottsbluff attending. Who knew that would be the last time we would be together until July. But, in the meantime while at home quilts were being made, Virtual workshop and Convention were being planned and carried out.
Pretty pockets continued to be made for cancer patients at Regional West to contain the necessary drains they need. 46 have been sent in the last 12 months.
We have been blessed to have 2 additional members of the District Board from Faith. Stanna Funk is now VP of Gospel Outreach and Pastor Neugebauer is our senior counselor. I will continue as District treasurer for the next 2 years.
Serving the Lord with gladness,
Irma Walter

The St. Paul, Potter, ladies attend the 2020 LWML Wyoming District Convention via ZOOM
“Some of the LWML members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Potter gathered together to join in the LWML WY District Zoom Convention on June 20th in Evie’s kitchen. Members in the photos include Marilyn E., Bobbie B., Bonnie B., Pastor B. (the photographer), Jeanette S., and Evie M. They enjoyed seeing the friendly faces of fellow LWML sisters and also the Pastors; and were amazed at the work that had to be done for this ZOOM Convention.”

What a crazy year this has been … we are thankful God is in control, and we put our faith and trust in His hands.
We meet on the second Wednesday of each month in the evening. We feel very blessed to have Pastor Bourret lead our Bible Studies, which are mainly the studies in the LWQ, before our business meeting. We have 13 members with the average attendance each month of seven members.
We sponsor Life Sunday in January and invite the congregation to a reception in honor of life after worship service. We put a single red rose and babies’ breath on the altar as well and provide Pro-Life brochures for those in attendance.
We host a reception on LWML Sunday following worship services and share information about how our mites work toward mission grants, and other organization events and activities.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we weren’t able to go to our care facilities this year to play Bingo and share pie.
We collect and sort through donated items for Orphan Grain Train. An LWML member takes the boxes of blankets and clothing to an Orphan Grain Warehouse in Julesburg, CO. Assembling quilts happen when possible.
We sent care kits to four members in college and to three military families this year. They are assembled and mailed in April and December. We invite the congregation to bring items for these care kits.
Several members gathered in the home of Evie Miller to participate in the LWML WY District 2020 Zoom Convention. We all learned a lot about technology thanks to the pandemic guidelines.
We praise God for His grace and mercy as we “serve the Lord with gladness”.

St. John's Scottsbluff - Evening Guild
Submitted by President LaVonne Loseke
Evening Guild meets regularly the First Tuesday of each month except June, July and August. We have 8 members. Our Officers are: President LaVonne Loseke, Secretary: Karen Helberg, and Treasurer: Ellen Johnansen.
October 6, 2019 we attended the Fall Rally at Bridgeport, Ne. The Theme "Restored in The Lord." Evening Guild assisted St. John's Missionary ladies with our December Salad Luncheon. The ladies of St John's helped serve three funerals in late August, October and January. This year we adopted a Fort Wayne Seminary student who was a former member and elder of St John's
The year of 2020 we were introduced to the Corona virus pandemic which was to bring about a lot of changes and cancellations. Christian Life Workshop, church services were cancelled due to the quarantine from our state Governor. We were able to stream the worship service to be able to be connected with the preaching of the WORD, confession and absolution.
During the time of the stay at home mandate on of our Evening Guild members and her daughter had applied for the Thrivent Action Team Card of $250.00. They purchased items for 20 layettes and put them together. They took to task of finding out where to get the best buys and completed the project. On May 27 three of the ladies delivered these to RWMC birthing center. They were in need of these layettes and were very grateful. We are back to meeting since Sept 2020, enjoying the bible studies from the LWML Quarterly and on to business and enjoying being together again.

We were able to get together on March 7th, and have lunch with one of our dear members who has been unable to join us at our regular meetings. Ardith is planning on moving with her son and his wife sometime this summer. What a wonderful time we had!!!
Because of Covid-19 directives we were unable to hold meetings in April and May. Sad that we missed getting together for our Spring 2020 Workshop. However, we were able to get together again in June for Bible Study and picnic in the Sidney Park. And, we are currently back to our regular meeting times.

Even though we were unable to get together as a group, we stayed busy this winter/spring. Following social distancing directives during the Covid-19 pandemic, we sewed and tied 10 lap quilts which were delivered to our elderly shut-ins much to the surprise and gratitude of the recipients. Three mini Confirmation banners were finished and presented to our newest Confirmands. We assembled layette kits for Regional West Medical Center, as part of the Spring Workshop In-Gathering.
Also, the chairperson of our visiting committee, along with the regular "Get Well" and "Sympathy" cards, sent numerous "Thinking of Your" cards and made phone calls to members who were unable to make it to Sunday Service and continue to remain isolated from our Church family. As president of Trinity, Sidney LWML and LWML Wyoming District VP Christian Life, I gave a presentation at the joint Trinity/Zion Mission Festival on Aug. 30, 2020, entitled "LWML in a Covid World - Adapting to a Different Way of Doing Things" |
